The kroon was reintroduced as Estonia's currency in 1992, replacing the Soviet ruble. In 2004 Estonia joined the ERM2, the EU's exchange rate mechanism. The kroon is pegged to the Euro at 1 € = 15.6466 Krooni.
The sheqel has been a freely convertible currency since January 1, 2003. The currency is not produced in Israel, as the country has no mint. Instead banknotes are imported by air and coins by sea.
