In standard Japanese, the yen is pronounced 'en' and literally means 'round object'. It is widely used throughout the world as a reserve currency after the United States dollar, the euro and the pound sterling.
The Jordanian dinar also circulates in West Bank together with the Israeli new sheqel. Since 1995, the dinar has been officially pegged to the IMF's Special Drawing Rights (SDRs). In practice, it is fixed at 1 U.S. dollar = 0.709 dinar most of the time.
